Paul D’ianno (1958-2024)
Iron Maiden came from the punk clubs n pubs of East London and their earlier speed fuelled songs were a perfect fit for Paul D’ianno. That early galloping Maiden sound and his snarling vocals launched them above the NWOBHM mob and they became one of the biggest bands in the world, pretty much where they remain today.
Paul couldn’t have sung the material that came after his departure but Bruce also didn’t quite have the attack and bite of those early singles
Up the Irons, Rest in Power 🤘
